Friend aka Raphael started very early as a child drawing various types of styles. At some point he started creating images with DeluxePaintIV on his Amiga 2000 computer. A digital canvas with limited amount of pixels was fascinating.
The work with pixels continued years later, when Friend had to redesign the TOM Interface for T-Mobile. At this time designing was almost like math and each pixel had to be calculated in
During his time at the University of Art and Design he also experimented with pixels drawn by hand into a tv grid.
While working as an art director at Publicis he and the copywriter Res created a viral video using a camera with very low almost pixelated resolution. The video showed two men hanging a stolen picture on a wall. The video went viral, was in all media and received multiple awards.
